TAKS baby.

On a personal note, today went from awesome to not a good day at all.  It has nothing to do with work though so that's all about that.

Today I proctored the TAKS (state-wide, mandated) test.  My room was nice and covered up, I had dividers between the students, and all was well.  Thankfully that is the time that the principal and 2 state monitors decided to "see that all testing requirements are being met."  Why I was so intimidated when they walked in, I cannot really say.  They made me super nervous but only stayed a few minutes.  The teacher next door to me obviously didn't have all the requirements since they had to radio different administrators and they all swarmed up to her room.  Turns out she didn't have dividers between students.  I doubt I have to mention this, but the dividers are not provided by the school, I fashioned mine out of old projects on poster board and large 3-ring binders standing up on edge.  One of the girls who had a seat at a 3-ring binder quickly fastened a picture of her two children to it so she could look at it during the test.  It was really sweet.

In eerie news, yesterday a student left his school ID in the room by accident.  When I looked at the lanyard I realized that instead of a photo, he had a folded up piece of paper with this written on it.  The misspellings make me think that he wrote this himself and did not copy it from somewhere.

So, yeah.  I'm about to take it to the counselor's office.  Hope he doesn't realize it was me but of course he will.

Since I need a laugh, I'm posting an excerpt from an assignment that was recently turned in:
Anyway... I am delivering a big presentation at grad school tonight.  I went overboard.  There are props.  It might be a big embarrassment.  I'll let you know if they kick me out of college for being such a dweeb.
