Still Furious
Here's a copy of the email I sent to our principal, dean, building supervisor and my supervisor. Did I mention that when I reported this, there happened to be a teacher passing by me and she said, "Oh yeah, me too! I locked my door and the next morning my stereo was gone." I wrote this during my planning period, because I had nothing else to do. Except complete 2 papers, plan a presentation and answer 30 literature questions for grad school, and grade all the work that my students turn in so I can finalize grades for the 6 weeks. Other than that I was not already stressed out at all or anything, just BEGGING for something else to worry about.
This morning when I entered my classroom I realized that a very large poster was missing. I just acquired this poster of the soccer star Ronaldo. It is about 4' x 3' and made out of canvas material. It hangs on nails in my room. The students and I had spent a great deal of time comprehensively labeling the body parts in Spanish and French.
The poster was here when I left and locked my room yesterday about 4:10pm.
I asked the female janitor who usually cleans my room if she had seen the poster when she came in yesterday. She said that yesterday they mixed up a bit and Mr. *** had cleaned my room with the help of a student. I've discussed the issue with Ms. [security] and she has agreed to check the tapes for anything suspicious, but as yet has not gotten back to me.
What can I do to have the best chances of getting this poster back?
I'll let you know if I get a response.
p.s. This day could not get worse. I was on hall duty when a student came up without a pass. No ID either. So after he yells at me that he doesn't "need no damn ID" I step into the cafeteria where one of the coaches is running detention. I wave to get his attention (I don't know his name) and when he finally looks over I call out, "Can you help me over here?"
He just shook his head no.
Literally, he didn't even say, "I can't right this minute," or anything. He just shook his head.
So I have this student about to run away, I have no idea who he is so he can be disciplined later, I get the attention of the person running detention, who makes it clear in front of me AND THE STUDENT that he WONT HELP ME. The student just laughed and said, "See? He ain't gon' help you."
Wtf is going on?!?!?!?!
